Make Your Home Cozy This Fall 🕯️
Here, Linda shares her tips on how to create the ultimate cozy fall atmosphere with candles, natural materials, and textiles. It’s all about creating a cozier feel.
As fall creeps in and the evenings grow darker, there’s nothing better than turning your home into a cozy oasis to come back to. Here are a few simple but effective ways to decorate your home to really capture that fall feeling.
Bring in the candles and candlesticks
Candles are a natural choice for setting the mood. Choose candleholders in various shapes, colors, and materials to create a dynamic look. Feel free to mix heights to add depth to the room, and choose warm tones to enhance the autumnal feel. Lighting a couple of candles in the evening creates a calm and relaxed atmosphere.
In addition to candles, you can always change the mood in your home by adjusting the lighting. Choose light bulbs with a warmer glow and avoid lighting that’s too bright. Place small light sources, such as table lamps or floor lamps, in corners to create a soft, inviting light that spreads throughout the room and creates a welcoming atmosphere.
Natural accents on the coffee table
To give your coffee table a touch of nature, feel free to pick up a twig from the garden or one you might find on a walk in the woods. A natural element creates an immediate connection to the outdoors while giving the room a rustic and harmonious feel. Feel free to combine it with other natural materials like wood or stone. This, together with candles and lanterns, creates a truly beautiful, fall-inspired style.
Darker pillows and fabrics on the sofa
When it comes to the sofa, Linda suggests giving it a fresh look with new pillows and blankets. Choose darker shades like brown, burgundy, or dark green to match the fall color palette. Textiles made of slightly heavier materials, such as velvet or wool, provide extra warmth and contribute to a cozy atmosphere. Add a few cozy throws, too, and you’ll have the perfect spot to curl up in when the cold weather sets in.
You might also consider rearranging the furniture in the room to create a more intimate atmosphere. Move sofas and armchairs closer together to create a space where people can easily gather—for example, around a coffee table with a throw blanket nearby. Creating smaller, cozy “corners” in larger rooms makes the space feel more inviting and cozy.
