We operate a video surveillance system in our shopping center, as indicated by signs inside and outside the shopping center. Samarkandfastigheter AB (Grand Samarkand) is responsible for the surveillance and acts as the data controller for the recorded footage. If you have any questions about the surveillance, please feel free to contact the Grand Samarkand Center Management, email: info@grandsamarkand.se, phone: 0470-78 00 70. Samarkandfastigheter AB, Hejaregatan 32, 352 46 Växjö.
Detailed description of the video surveillance system
In this shopping center, the footage can be monitored in real time by us or by a contracted security company so that we can intervene quickly in the event of an incident (e.g., vandalism, theft, or a disturbance). The primary purpose of the surveillance is to enhance the safety of staff and visitors in our shopping center. Surveillance is also conducted as a preventive measure to reduce the risk of crime and disturbances.
Recorded footage is automatically deleted at intervals of up to 14 days. If an incident has occurred that requires further investigation, the footage containing the incident is retained for a longer period for investigative purposes, such as to determine whether theft or vandalism has taken place. The footage is deleted once the investigation is complete. In the event that the case proceeds further—for example, to trial—the recorded footage will be retained until the judgment can no longer be appealed.
Legal Basis for Surveillance and Disclosure of Material
We have a legitimate interest in conducting video surveillance of our shopping center, which consists of enhancing safety and preventing crime and public disturbances. To minimize the risk of infringing on personal privacy, we have, among other measures, chosen to have a short retention period for the recorded footage, to not record audio, to limit surveillance to certain areas of the property, to ensure that only a few people have access to the recorded footage, and to have procedures in place governing how recorded footage may be handled and disclosed. In addition to a limited group at Grand Samarkand, those who have access to the footage include the parties who assist us with security (e.g., security companies). The police and other authorities may also gain access to the footage if we determine that there is a legitimate interest in its disclosure or if we are otherwise required to disclose the information pursuant to law or an official decision.
Your Rights
Since video surveillance involves the processing of personal data, you have certain rights under the law. For example, you have the right to request a record showing what personal data we process (including a copy of the data) and the right to have data corrected or deleted. You also have the right, under certain conditions, to request that our processing be restricted or to object to our processing. You also have the right to file a complaint with the supervisory authority (the Swedish Data Protection Authority) if you believe that we are not processing your personal data in accordance with the law. If you wish to exercise any of your rights or learn more about any of them or our video surveillance, please contact us using the contact information above.
