Eko Stormarknad Opens in Växjö, Becomes a Neighbor to Grand Samarkand
It is now confirmed that Eko Stormarknad is opening in Växjö. Right next to Grand Samarkand, Eko Stormarknad will open yet another of its sought-after discount stores.
Eurocommercial acquired the lot adjacent to Grand Samarkand in 2019—which was then a trucking hub—to enable potential expansion and foster good neighborly relations. Once the existing business moved out, preparations began to create a sense of proximity and connection to Grand Samarkand.
It has now been confirmed that Eko Stormarknad will open next to Grand Samarkand. The existing truck terminal
will be demolished, and Eurocommercial will construct a new 8,200-square-meter facility for Eko Stormarknad. At the same time,
the connection between the new Eko Stormarknad and the existing Grand Samarkand shopping center will be improved.
With its enormous selection of everything from toys and flowers to skin and body care, as well as a wide range of products for both home and leisure, the already attractive area is expected to grow even further as a shopping destination. The new store is expected to attract many shoppers drawn to a large and substantial selection at lower prices.
“We’re really looking forward to our upcoming collaboration with Eko Stormarknad, where we’ll be transforming a truck terminal into a good neighbor that will further strengthen the commercial hub around our already robust Grand Samarkand,” says Jonas Gustavsson, Director of Eurocommercial.
– Ted Berggren, CEO of Eko-Gruppen: “We’re finally back. We’ve been in Växjö before with our previous Eko concept and know that this is a great place for business. It’s going to be exciting to make a comeback here together with Eurocommercial.”
Eko Stormarknad is expected to open in the spring of 2025.
Eko Stormarknad is a family-owned company within the Bergendahl Group, with its headquarters in Fjälkinge. The company currently has 15 stores throughout Sweden.
